Minor in Educational Psychology

The Educational Psychology Minor is for undergraduate students interested in better understanding people and organizational behavior, as well as how to effectively communicate.

The program is available for any undergraduate at Baylor University who is interested or required to add a minor to their degree plan.

To apply:

Students should ask their academic advisor about adding the EDP minor.


Course Requirements for the EDP Minor (15 credit hours):

The minor is 15 credit hours (5 courses), and must include the 3 core courses in Educational Psychology (EDP) listed, plus any 2 courses listed below from the Department of Educational Psychology (EDP), Department of Communication (CSS), and/or Department of Management (MGT).

Take 3 Educational Psychology (EDP) Core Courses:

  • EDP 2336: The Developing Child
  • EDP 3325: Introduction to Educational Psychology
  • EDP 3361: Developmental Disabilities

Choose any 2 courses from the 3 departments below:

  • EDP 2350: Teaching Gifted and Talented
  • EDP 3324: Learning and Development
  • DEP 3376: Applied Behavior Analysis
Communication:
  • CSS 3304: Small Group Communication
  • CSS 3310: Communication Theory
  • CSS 3312: Nonverbal Communication
  • CSS 3315 Health Communication
  • CSS 3311 Interpersonal Communication
  • CSS 4301 Organizational Communication
  • CSS 4302: Communication Training & Development
  • CSS 4303: Leadership & Communication
  • CSS 4311: Conflict Communication
  • CSS 4313: Family Communication
Management:
  • MGT 3301: Managing People in Organizations
  • MGT 3305: Leadership & Organizational Behavior*
  • MGT 4305: Principled Leadership*
  • MGT 4320: Negotiation & Conflict Resolution*
  • MGT 4336: Human Resource Management*

*These courses can only be taken by business majors.
